I am an Australian mixed media and textile artist based in Rome, Italy.
I use silk, wool, alpaca and linen, mulberry bark, synthetics, paper, metals and found objects to convey colours, textures and meanings in unconventional ways. I’m especially interested in conveying emotions such as grief, trauma and stigma: jealousy, post-traumatic stress and the scarification of physical suffering often feature in my work.
I exhibit in Australia and overseas and won the inaugural Buda Textile Award in 2008. My three dimensional work siliqua lucti appeared in Seth Apter’s 2013 book The Mixed Media Artist: Art Tips, Tricks, Secrets and Dreams from Over 40 Amazing Artists.
Together with my husband, William Paul, I run the Counterweave Arts Gallery & Workshop in Rome, where we promote and sell Aboriginal and contemporary Australian art and I teach textile workshops. I curate all Counterweave exhibitions.
Photos of my works in progress are posted on Instagram at felicitygriffinclark and on my Facebook page Felicity Griffin Clark – textile artist. Occasional Twitter user at TheGryphonClerk
Member of The Society for Embroidered Work and the Fiber Art Network.
I have exhibited my work in Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia. I currently show my work through Counterweave Arts Gallery & Workshop in Rome, Italy.
